This is a unique position for anyone looking for the next challenge within their career. From supporting the emergency planning of airport operations to facilitating exercises for the City's oil and gas production department, the Manager - Emergency Management will always find something new to test their existing skillset. In addition to working with the diverse City's operations, the Manager - Emergency Management will also provide a key leadership role in the management of a provincial All Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT), exposing them to incidents far beyond the City's borders. As a Deputy Director of Emergency Management, this position requires the Manager - Emergency Management to work a flexible work schedule involving regular day shift, occasional evening/weekend work and emergency support as required.This position is an on-site position located in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Move to Medicine Hat Your key responsibilities Assist the Associate Director - Emergency Management in all aspects of emergency planning and response for the City and regional municipalities. Develop and deliver emergency management training, including Incident Command System (ICS) training and exercise plans for elected officials, municipal staff, and emergency program volunteers. Facilitate department-specific emergency management plans, exercises, training sessions, and meetings. Coordinate and deliver community engagement initiatives on emergency preparedness, including individual and family preparedness and business continuity support. Assume leadership roles during major emergencies. Support the implementation of the Municipal Emergency Management Plan and application of the ICS in emergency situations. Manage and maintain Emergency Management Program resources, including Incident Command Post equipment, supplies, and inventories. Oversee volunteer recruitment, retention, and training for key response teams. Develop and manage Emergency Management Program website content and social media presence in collaboration with the City's communications team. Support the maintenance and activation of public and internal emergency alerting and notification systems.What you bring Knowledge of federal, provincial, and regional organizations and their emergency management support role and relationship to local governments. Knowledge of current and emerging federal and provincial legislation, regulations and statutes relevant to the City, including but not limited to: the Alberta Emergency Management Act, Alberta Energy Regulator Directives related to emergency management, the Canadian Aviation Regulations, and the Alberta Dam and Canal Safety Directive.
