*Position Overview: *
Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Engineering is a hands-on Department Head position that is responsible for managing the Property Maintenance (Engineering) operations and ensuring standards established by the Hotel and the Brand is met.

The Director of Engineering demonstrates our company and Sheraton values and models the desired service behaviors in all interactions with guests and associates. This individual has an ?open door policy? and establishes an open, collaborative relationship with all associates and business partners. They are clear on the hotel?s strategic priorities by setting goals and expectations with their team and provide guidance and coaching through constructive performance feedback. The Director of Engineering ensures alignment between all operational departments in support of the hotel?s strategic priorities, while exercising proactive judgment.
*The Director of Engineering will be responsible for:*
*Operational Responsibilities *
· Lead and direct the Engineering team to ensure the smooth operation of property maintenance functions
· Provide a hands on approach in training the Engineering team as required
· To oversee all major and minor mechanical systems throughout the hotel, ensuring that systems are fully operational
· Manage everyday requests from operating departments within the Hotel including guest related requests
· Ensure the property is maintained to the highest standards and in a safe manner
· Develop, recommend and implement the department?s budget and capital expenditures and manage expenses within approved budget constraints;
· Responsible for inventories of operational supplies and equipment; Monitor and manage equipment inventory audits to ensure optimum work resources
· Coordinate renovation bidding and repairs/projects. Define the cost and scope of the project and oversee the general contractor and subcontractors to ensure quality work is performed for minimal cost
· Develop and hold accountable preventative maintenance practices which ensure the longevity of all equipment, including the monitoring and tendering of all service contracts
· Develop, implement and manage energy conservation initiatives to mechanical and electrical system to minimize costs
· Hold regular department meetings; responsible for establishing department objectives, policies and procedures, designed to provide service levels, which exceed the expectations of both internal departments and guests
· Participate in recruitment, selection, training and performance management of all Engineering associates; acts as a resource to associates
· Monitor work hours, scheduling and vacation planning of Engineering associates based on hotel occupancy and work volumes
· Oversee all Fire & Life Safety Systems and is responsible for the training of all employees on these initiatives
· Hold regular fire drills and is an active participant in the Health & Safety Committee
· Maintain a safe working environment for all employees, occupants and visitors to the property
