We are an outcome driven, high performance organization respected for its commitment to the citizens we service and the services we provide.General Manager, Electoral Area ServicesThe General Manager, Electoral Area Services is a complex administrative and professional local government position providing visionary leadership for the diverse functions within the Electoral Area Services and CRD organization. This is accomplished by delivering continuous improvement and excellence in the provision of quality services and programs. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the General Manager is an integral part of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) that guides the CRD and implements the direction of the Board and is responsible for senior leadership to the local area and joint services within the three (3) electoral areas of the CRD: Juan de Fuca, Salt Spring Island, and the Southern Gulf Islands. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success in a senior leadership role within a progressive regional district, municipality or complex public-sector organization, with an emphasis on rural area administration. The General Manager will be well-versed in effecting change to improve operations and service delivery and has experience supporting a broader mandate by providing insightful strategic input to short- and long-term planning, balancing the interests of the Electoral Areas and the Region, and ensuring that the perspectives of the Electoral Areas are represented at the ELT and throughout the organization. Entrepreneurial, visionary, collaborative and inclusive, the chosen candidate will have led diverse teams (including unionized and non-unionized staff, contractors and volunteers) and worked collaboratively across the organization to meet common goals and objectives. In addition, the incumbent will bring a depth of experience overseeing a variety of local area services - such as local area: community parks and recreation, planning, culture, water and wastewater utilities, transportation, and related - and understands how to balance competing needs both with internal and external partner groups. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have a Degree supplemented by Post-Graduate studies in a related field and 15 years senior level professional experience with substantial experience in a leadership role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Completion of the Local Government Certification program is an asset, as is a professional designation related to the role. Current salary for this position is $211,088 to $248,339 annually (quoted in 2024 rates), plus a comprehensive benefits package.
