*Job Title:* Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic ? Calgary, Alberta We?re looking for a skilled *Journeyperson, Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic* to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. On-road experience is preferred, but we welcome candidates with solid off-road expertise as well. Come work in a recession-proof industry with long-term job security and growth potential. Join a family-operated company that values its people and offers opportunities for career advancement. *Responsibilities:* * Running diagnostic tests on heavy trucks, and industrial, and municipal equipment for proper performance, and inspecting equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. * Analyzing diagnostic faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair(s) required. * Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, using hand and power tools. * Testing repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. * Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on all equipment, and attachments /components. * Service attachments and working tools on heavy trucks, and industrial, and municipal equipment. * Attach components and make adjustments on new equipment. * Ensure the cleanliness of their work area. *Requirements & Skills:* * High school diploma or GED. * Journeyperson certification as a heavy equipment mechanic. * Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities (computerized systems included). * Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and municipal/industrial equipment. * Valid Class 5 driver?s license and clean abstract required. * Comfortable working independently and occasionally after hours. * Strong communication and organizational skills. * Occasional travel, including overnights, may be required (rarely). *Physical & Safety Requirements:* * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 300 lbs. independently. * Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces. * Use of Fall Protection equipment when required. * Some exposure to varying environmental conditions (rarely). * Use of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) may be required. * Commitment to safe work practices, PPE usage, and compliance with safety policies. *Employment Type & Compensation:* * *Full-time* | Monday to Friday | 8:00 AM ? 4:30 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch) * *Wage Ranges (based on experience and certification):* * On-Road Mechanics: *$45.00 ? $50.00/hour* * Off-Road Mechanics: *$45.00 ? $49.00/hour* * Company iPad provided for work use *Benefits:* * Extended Health, Dental, Life, and Disability insurance * Health Spending Account * Employer-matching RRSP program *About us:* For over twenty-nine years, Westvac Industrial Ltd. has proven to be a leader in the municipal and industrial equipment industry.
