The Gear Centre Group of Companies is a well-established organization with branches across Canada, and we are excited to welcome a new Human Resources Assistant to our team at the Administration Office in the west end of Edmonton.
The Human Resources Assistant will report to the Human Resources Team Lead and play a key role in supporting the department by managing administrative tasks, onboarding new hires, assisting with recruitment and retention initiatives, and contributing to policy development.
*Position Overview*
* Assist and collaborate with the HR team to ensure smooth departmental operations
* Provide excellent internal customer service to all departments
* Create and maintain administrative systems to support HR functions, such as monthly reports and employee files
* Support recruitment efforts, including posting job openings, screening candidates, managing interview schedules, and conducting in-person and online interviews
* Assist with onboarding new hires, including preparing new hire packages and facilitating orientation sessions
* Oversee apprenticeship enrollment, including maintaining spreadsheets to track participant information, progress, and compliance requirements
* · Ensure timely updates to apprenticeship records and liaise with relevant teams to support program administration
* Assist in the development, review, and updating of HR policies and procedures
* Manage employee records and ensure HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce) data is accurate and up to date
* Contribute to special HR projects as assigned
* Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism
*Qualifications*
* Post-secondary education with a major in commerce or human resources preferred
* At least 5 years of experience in executive administrative support or a similar role
* Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with HRIS systems (Ceridian Dayforce preferred)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Comfortable conducting in-person and virtual interviews
* Self-motivated and collaborative, able to work both independently and as part of a team
* High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
