An incumbent of this class reviews, assembles, organizes and consolidates electronic disclosure packages pertaining to criminal investigations for submission to Crown Counsel; and liaises with and provides assistance to file coordinators in the development and review of file information throughout the investigation and prior to charge submission. An incumbent also updates and maintains procedures and protocols for the digitization of investigative information and develops business processes and management solutions to support the data and documentation retrieval for package completion. Considerable independent judgement and action are exercised within established guidelines, while unusual problems or policy matters are referred to a superior. Work performance is reviewed by a superior for conformance with established procedures and effectiveness of services rendered.Illustrative Examples of Work Assembles, organizes and consolidates electronic disclosure packages compiled of documents to support criminal charges submitted to Crown Counsel by Court Liaison, including all relevant physical documents, photos, notes, audio and video recordings, spreadsheets, maps and diagrams. Ensures that all material deemed disclosable by the file coordinator is organized in a logical and comprehensible format that complies with established protocols and MOUs between Police and Crown Counsel; and includes utilization of naming conventions. Reviews case documentation to identify outstanding, incomplete or inconsistent information; ensures information vetting is in accordance to laws, statues, policies and MOUs between Police and Crown Counsel is applied to disclosure when applicable; returns packages to originator or makes routine corrections as appropriate; and triages formal requests for disclosure to ensure all relevant documents and reports are received for package compilation. Updates and maintains procedures and protocols for the digitization of information in the utilized systems; modifies and maintains processes for document scanning, system entry, organization, retrieval and related tasks; prepares, edits and converts digital, audio and video files to acceptable formats. In consultation with a superior, develops business processes and data management solutions to support effective investigative document management and organization for the retrieval of the data and documentation when required for package preparation. Performs related work as required.Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Considerable knowledge of the requirements and capabilities of the data systems in relation to the work performed. Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to the assembly, organization and consolidation of electronic disclosure packages pertaining to criminal investigations. Sound knowledge of the methods, practices and procedures used in the work and of techniques pertaining to retrieving, manipulation and retrieval of data and documentation. Sound knowledge of English grammar and spelling and of police terminology used in the work. Sound knowledge of methods and techniques applied in conducting quality assurance audits. Sound knowledge of the software, databases and police data systems used in the work. Working knowledge of investigative techniques and methods in relation to the work performed.
