The Police Services Department is seeking a Communications and Public Relations Specialist to join our team. This is a dynamic role where you will play a key part in enhancing public awareness and engagement through creative storytelling, social media campaigns, and effective communication strategies.As a vital member of the team, you will work closely with the senior leadership team, advising on communication strategies, coordinating event plans, and managing the department?s social media presence. Your expertise in content creation, media relations, and public engagement will help highlight the RCMP?s contributions to our community. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCECompletion of a two-year diploma in media or public relations plus related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESConsiderable knowledge of the procedures, methods and techniques related to the work.Considerable knowledge of the department?s communications objectives and practices and the requirements of media representatives.Sound knowledge of the organizational structure and functions of the detachment and of the rules, policies, procedures and regulations which govern the work.Skill in the operation of office equipment, audio and video editing software, software applications, content management systems, social media tools, photography and video equipment used in the work.Ability to develop and execute social media campaigns.Ability to assist in the development of communications plans and strategies and to prepare assigned plans and projects.Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to develop and disseminate information updates and correspondence.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and to exercise tact, judgement and discretion in obtaining and providing information.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance. LICENCES AND CERTIFICATERCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance.Class 5 Driver?s License for the Province of B.C.
