Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Commercial. Residential. Construction. Tasks: Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel. Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to base. Align and straighten tiles. Prepare tenders and quotations. Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools. Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout. Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles. Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs. Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite. Estimate costs and materials. Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces. Select appropriate paint or mix paints. Supervision: 3-4 people. Tilesetters. Painters and decorators. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Tilesetter Trade Certification. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Equipment and machinery experience: Roller painting. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own vehicle. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Attention to detail. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots.
