Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best.<p>We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team: <p> Graduation Coach for Indigenous Students<p> Three (3) Month Term Assignment<p>Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week (12 month work year)<p>ESP Level 8: $62,460 to $79,057<p><p>Reporting to the Principal of Indigenous Education, the Graduation Coach will support Indigenous students involved in the Graduation Coach Program for Indigenous Students (the Project) by acting as a mentor and advisor, collaborating with school based and other staff and the broader community in responding to individual and systemic barriers (e.g. academic, mental health, justice, cultural knowledge); identifying and addressing individual barriers to engagement, learning and well-being; facilitating access and referrals to academic supports and community resources to provide an integrated support system for students; and supporting the holistic well-being of First Nations, Métis and Inuit children/youth.<p> <p><p><p> <p> <p> <p> <p> Qualifications<p> <p> <p> <p><p><p><p> <p> Diploma or degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Work, Counselling, or a related field of study, and a minimum of 3 years related experience. <p> <p> <p> Comprehensive first-hand life experience deeply rooted in local Indigenous communities is required. Preference will be given to those who identify as a member of the First Nation, Métis or Inuit community.<p> <p> <p> An understanding of the diversity and composition of Indigenous communities.<p> <p> <p> Knowledge of Indigenous traditional teachings, culture, perspectives, values, and history, and has deep connections to the local Indigenous community; Ability to identify systemic barriers and appropriate intervention points.<p> <p> <p> An awareness of local community resources and the ability to support students and their families in accessing and navigating these resources.<p> <p> <p> Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.<p> <p> <p> Excellent problem-solving, demonstrate sound judgment and sensitivity, broad understanding of and an inclusive approach to relationship building.<p> <p> <p> Demonstrated ability to build rapport with various stakeholders.<p> <p> <p> Experience handling contentious issues with sensitivity, confidentiality, tact and discretion.<p> <p> <p> Ability to be a mentor and advisor, and demonstrated commitment to working with and supporting Indigenous youth.<p> <p> <p> Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a large caseload, prioritize and organize work effectively, and maintain detailed records.<p> <p> <p> Access to reliable transportation required for local travel to schools and home visits when necessary.<p> <p><p> <p><p><p> <p> <p> <p> <p> Application Process<p> <p> <p> <p><p><p>Applications will be<p>considered in accordance with the ESP Collective Agreement, in the following<p>order: <p>1.
