Human Resources Manager
_Permanent Full-Time_
Reporting to the Manager of Administration, the Human Resources Manager will oversee all areas of Human Resources Management for the First Nation. The HRM will liaise with legal representatives and provide advice, assistance, guidance, and resources to the business entities of Rainy River First Nations. They will serve as the primary strategic leader and operational manager for the human resources department, upholding RRFN's mission and vision and acting as a champion for change. Additionally, they will lead, inspire, and foster an environment of collaboration and excellence, and champion internal growth, development, and innovation.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Manage recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes for all RRFN positions.
· Conduct job evaluations and ensure competitive job descriptions.
· Oversee performance management, total compensation, and benefits options.
· Administer employee relations, including progressive discipline and performance improvement plans.
· Plan and implement training initiatives for staff and community members.
· Develop and revise policies, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
· Enhance and manage the HRIS system Payworks.
· Assist in strategic planning, succession planning, and career development for internal departments.
· Work with external resources such as legal representatives and HR professionals to gather necessary information.
· Ensure compliance with federally regulated processes and the Canada Labour Code.
· Champion corporate best practices and employee engagement and wellness initiatives.
· Manage and coach staff, and administer internal committees as required.
· Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources Management.
· Five years of experience in First Nation Administration or Business Administration, including managing, developing, and coaching staff.
· Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
· Experience in developing and organizing training programs.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to manage high levels of stress and maintain diplomacy, discretion, and respect when liaising with the Chief and Council, managers, community members, and external agencies.
· Proficiency with MS Office, HRIS systems, and recruitment platforms.
· Knowledge and respect for Rainy River First Nations' culture, traditions, and practices.
· Criminal record check, vulnerable sector screening, valid driver?s license with satisfactory driver?s abstract, and adherence to Rainy River First Nations? Drug Testing Policy.
