Tasks: Consult with clients to determine the type, style and purpose of renovations or new building construction being considered. Generate building plans and detailed drawings to be used by contractors and tradespersons. Prepare documents showing both the structural needs and the materials required for construction. Project management. Supervise the preparation of drawings, specifications and other construction documents for use by contractors and tradespersons. Work in limiting factors, such as town planning laws and environmental impact assessments. Conceptualize and design buildings and develop plans describing design specifications, building materials, costs and construction schedules. Prepare sketches and models. Perform architectural research . Conduct feasibility studies of building projects. Estimate costs. Tender and administer contracts. Write plans describing project specifications and construction schedules. Monitor activities on construction sites to ensure compliance with specifications. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Membership in the Provincial Association of Architects. Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Computer and technology knowledge: Architectural software programs. AutoCAD. Autodesk REVIT. Computer-aided design (CAD). Area of work experience: Project coordination. Architectural specialization: New construction. Site inspections. Commercial. Industrial. Institutional. Residential construction. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Confidential security clearance. Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Own vehicle. Willing to travel.
