Notice of Employment Opportunity Lifeguard/Instructor Level 2 (Permanent Part-Time)ABOUT THE ROLEThe Regional District of Nanaimo has an employment opportunity for a permanent part time Lifeguard/Instructor Level 2 at the Ravensong Aquatic Centre in Qualicum Beach.The successful candidate will assist in the creation, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of aquatic programs and special events. Duties include leading and instructing a variety water-based exercise classes (i.e., Aquafit), enforcing pool rules and pool safety for the public, routine preventative maintenance and safety checks, implementation of the facility?s emergency response program, providing first aid services and supporting office staff.QUALIFICATIONSQualifications include high school graduation, with one (1) to three (3) years of pool/aquatic related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicants must possess and maintain the following certifications: National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option) Lifesaving Society (Swim for Life) Instructor Certification CPR Certification - Basic Rescuer or CPR ?C? & AED Recognized First Aid Certification/WorkSafeBC Equivalency 1000 hours at Ravensong Aquatic Centre Pool Operator (Level 1) And any one of the following: Lifesaving Instructor, Aquafit Certification (BCRPA Aquafit, CALA Aquafit Instructor), National Lifeguard Service Instructor, Swim for Life Trainer, or First Aid InstructorPOSITION DETAILSThis is a permanent part-time union position. The (2024) rate of pay is $27.70 per hour. The position offers an attractive benefits package as provided with the Collective Agreement between the RDN and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.
