*Oncore Seniors Society* is a not for profit that operates within the RiverBend Seniors Community. We provide 3 meals/day to our RiverBend Manor residents.
The position is a Full Time Cook
Two shifts from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Two shifts from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
*Qualifications:*
· Possess a minimum of 3 years banquet cooking experience
· Current Food Safe certification
· WHMIS certification an asset
· Physically able to carry out the demands of the position
· Able to lift items up to 12 kg
*Duties:*
-ensure that residents receive a nutritious, balanced, tasty, safely prepared, and well-presented meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner
-ensure the supplies and materials for the subsequent meal are available in the kitchen
-prepare, cook and plate menu items
-control portion size according to the needs and preferences of the residents
-prepare baked items (cookies/cakes/muffins) as and when scheduled or required
-promote and practice professional work habits and proper hygiene in the kitchen and dining room
-ensure that left over food is stored safely and used appropriately and in a timely manner
-minimize food wastage and maximize utilization of food through proper rotation
-ensure that inventory is sufficient to meet the following week?s menu plan
-ensure food deliveries are unpacked, checked off against weigh bills and properly stored
-guide and assist the Dietary Aides in the kitchen when necessary
-ensure that all kitchen tools and equipment are safely kept in clean working condition
-ensure that the kitchen space is clean and sanitized as required
-work as a respectful, cooperative and reliable team member with co-workers in the planning, coordinating, and functioning of RiverBend Manor food services
-maintain positive and helpful relations with residents
-answer kitchen telephone calls and handle information accordingly
-ensure emergencies and fire alarms are responded to properly and quickly

· use excellent interpersonal communication skills with staff and residents
· remain calm in hectic circumstances
· possesses good organizational skills and work habits
· have knowledge of and practices safe food handling and routine sanitation procedures
· possess functional arithmetic skills
· are able to work independently as well as able to work well as a team member
· are kind, patient and respectful when communicating with residents, their families, colleagues and visitors
· are reliable, cooperative, and neat in appearance and possesses safe and sanitary work habits
Job Type: Part Time
Salary: $21.81 - $22.68 per hour
