SUBJECT TO SUFFICIENT PROGRAM ENROLMENT <p>The Board invites applications for the following position:<p>INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE - YORUBA INSTRUCTOR <p>Location To be determined Term Position : November 2024 May 2025 (3.0 hours weekly - Day of the week TBD - 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm)<p>Salary: $29.90/hour<p>Position Summary: <p>The International and Indigenous Language Yoruba Instructor will develop carefully thought-out lesson plans, identify meaningful links between the objectives and content of each lesson/unit. Planned instruction must include a range of activities that will provide listening, reading, writing, musical and engaging learning opportunities for students. The Yoruba Instructor will create a supportive, welcoming and dynamic learning environment for students, while promoting positive student behavior. The Yoruba Instructor will be responsible to the Vice Principal of Continuing Education. <p>Qualifications: <p>Basic: Training in teaching the language of study (Yoruba);<p> Training in teaching languages (i.e., ESL, FSL)<p> Other: - Three (3) years successful teaching experience (elementary preferable)<p> - Strong ability to read, write and speak in both Yoruba and English languages;<p> - Familiarity with language teaching methodologies;<p> - Commitment to inclusive teaching practice;<p> - Knowledge of research based-instructional strategies; <p> - Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; <p> - Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology into teaching/learning activities;<p> - Knowledge and ability to effectively use BrightSpace/D2L;<p> - A demonstrated understanding of effective assessment practices (e.g. Growing Success); and<p> - Ability to work collaboratively and to be flexible. <p> - Primary and Junior Divisions; or<p> - Junior and Intermediate Divisions <p>Duties and Responsibilities: <p>The role of the International and Indigenous Language Elementary Instructor is to plan, deliver and coordinate a program that is optimal for language learning and that reflects current teaching practices in Ontario; ensure the safety and well-being of students; communicate about student process to administrators, other educators, parents and students; encourage parent involvement in student learning at home and at school.<p>Applications shall include a resume and names of two professional references. <p>Please direct any questions pertaining to this posting to Hollie Girdler, Human Resources Coordinator. <p>About Us: <p> The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board offers a Christ-centered education to over 13,000 students from Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk counties, the City of Brantford, Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
