Food Coordinator - 3.0 hours per day <p>Under the direction of the Principal and/or designate and the divisional Nutrition Program Coordinator, the food coordinator is responsible for implementing the school's nutrition programming. This includes preparing breakfast, lunch and/or snack. It also includes maintaining kitchen spaces and food storage areas in compliance with safe food handling practices. Other duties include ordering food and supplies, inventory management, maintaining accurate records, and compiling program data for reporting. The food coordinator is expected to prepare high quality, nutritious foods in accordance with Canada's Food Guide, Manitoba's Healthy Food in Schools policy, and the new National School Food Policy. The successful candidate will value and uphold rigorous food safety standards while receiving, preparing, and serving food, as well as when maintaining nutrition spaces.<p>.<p><p>Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to: <p><p><p> Prepare meals for breakfast, lunch and snack.<p> Set menus for breakfast, lunch and snack with support from the divisional nutrition programming coordinator and Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba.<p> Maintain nutrition facilities such as kitchens, food and supply storage areas and eating rooms daily in accordance with public health guidelines for food handling establishments.<p> Manage food and supply ordering and receive and verify deliveries in accordance with safe food handling procedures. Plan purchases within set budgets, track program expenses incurred throughout school year, and maintain food and supply purchasing records.<p> Engage continually with children and youth to ensure meals reflect the diversity of preferences, requirements and cultural backgrounds within schools.<p> Maintain records of meals and number of children served each day as well as qualitative feedback from children, youth and parents about meals served at school.<p> Monitor students during food programming for safe behaviour and conduct during mealtimes (if applicable).<p> Other duties as assigned.<p><p><p> <p>Assets: <p><p> Will maintain high quality food preparation and safe food handling procedures under pressure and time constraints.<p> Will maintain accurate record keeping of purchases, inventory and other program data.<p> Will meet recurring deadlines in a fast-paced environment.<p> Will work collaboratively with school administrators and divisional nutrition program staff to ensure delivery of high-quality school food programming.<p> Will implement menu plans that are in accordance with Canada's Food Guide as well as include a variety of culturally diverse ingredients and recipes.<p> Understands and values the importance of maintaining strict safety standards when preparing food for vulnerable populations like children and youth.<p> Understands and values the importance of good nutrition for the proper growth and development of children and youth throughout their life course.<p> Understands and values that students come from diverse and unique cultural backgrounds that should be reflected in school meal programming.<p> Understands and values that program funding utilizes tax-payer dollars and should be handled with the highest level of responsibility and accountability.<p><p> <p>Qualifications: <p><p> Complete secondary education<p> Minimum of 1-year prior experience in food preparation, ideally for large groups<p> Experience purchasing and receiving food and supplies and keeping accurate records<p> Experience working with children and youth<p> A working knowledge of safe food handling practices<p> A working knowledge of Canada?s Food Guide<p> Hold, or be willing to attain, a valid Food Handler Certificate<p> Dedication to anti-racism, equity, and diversity<p> Proven commitment to Truth and Reconciliation<p> Proven ability to build collaborated cultures founded on integrity and collective purpose<p><p> <p>How to apply: <p><p><p>Click the butt
