The High Prairie School Division <p>is inviting applications for:<p>Career Coach <p>This .8 FTE position is located at GP Vanier School. <p>Georges P. Vanier School is centrally located in the village of Donnelly within the Municipal District of Smoky River No. 130. It is located near the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 49, located approximately 65 km south of Peace River and 427 km northwest of Edmonton. <p>Our school has a small-town, family atmosphere, while being well-equipped with cutting-edge technology and providing a full array of courses for our junior and senior high students. We offer dual-track programming in French Immersion and English for students in grades 7 to 9 with a full array of courses for our senior high students. Our school has a student population of approximately 230 students and is situated in the heart of northwestern Alberta?s Smoky River region. This is an area comprised of approximately 5,000 residents and is predominantly driven by the agriculture sector as well as the oil and gas industry.<p>Job Purpose: <p>Career Coaches will foster an environment of high expectations and lifelong learning, and will encourage students to always work to their full potential. Career Coaches will engage secondary students in the development and implementation of their transition plans. A student?s individual transition plan may include high school programing, post-secondary and career planning. This will be done through a student centered approach, focusing on exploration, and engaging a student?s support system in the process whenever possible.<p>Duties and Responsibilities: <p>Including but not limited to:<p>Through the following activities, Career Coaches will endeavor to:<p><p> Support the unique career development journey of secondary students, ensuring that all students are confident in the next steps of their transition plan.<p> Instill a sense of hope and confidence in students as they progress into the next step of their career journey.<p> Increase graduation rates and transition to post-secondary rates among all students in High Prairie School Division.<p> Create opportunities for students to explore their interests and values as they pertain to career planning.<p><p>Student Career Planning<p><p> Provide every secondary student with regular ongoing career development discussions about the student?s career needs, interests and goals.<p> Encourage regular self-assessment and continuous career research through My Blueprint and other tools. <p><p>Career Awareness and Exploration<p><p> Support the provision of opportunities for students to be exposed to a wide range of occupations and career clusters. <p><p>Academic Planning and School Success<p><p> Work closely with students to help them develop a high school plan that creates opportunity and individual success.<p> Guide students to align their high school plan with the requirements of a high school diploma (or certificate) and of their future aspirations. <p> Collaborate with administrators, teachers, Indigenous Education Coaches and Wellness Coaches to deliver wrap around support for students.<p><p>Dual Credit Support<p><p> Promote dual credit courses and programs to students and parents as a means for students to explore interests.<p> Coordinate dual credit applications, screening interviews, orientations and textbooks.<p> Provide front line support to dual credit students; liaise with dual credit instructors and teachers (Grad Coach) to support student success.<p> In consultation with a certified teacher (Grad Coach) ensure dual credit marks are submitted to Alberta Education.<p><p>Transition to Post-Secondary<p><p> Provide opportunities for students to be exposed to a wide range of post-secondary institutions and programs.<p> Coach students in research of post-secondary programs and through the post-secondary application process.<p><p>Off Campus Education<p><p> Promote the Registered Apprenticeship Program.<p> Work closely with Off Campus Coordin
