Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Noisy. Hot. Cold/refrigerated. Outdoors. Work setting: On-site customer service. Tasks: Install and overhaul heating systems. Install refrigeration systems. Interpret blueprints or other instructions to plan methods or sequences of operation. Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements. Troubleshoot heating systems. Troubleshoot ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components. Coach and instruct apprentices. Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment. Provide customer service. Start up system and test for leaks using testing devices. Perform maintenance such as, recharging system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators or calibrating system. Interpret gas codes. Handle, recover and store refrigerants. Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification. Control systems: Energy conservation. Electrical devices. On-board diagnostics. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems: Rooftop (self-contained). Heat pump. Air motioning and circulation. Filtration. Built up (split system). Humidification and de-humidification system. Ventilation. Transportation/travel information: Vehicle supplied by employer. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Standing for extended periods.
