We encourage all applicants to join our dynamic, diverse, and collaborative culture and welcome applications from all qualified individuals.<p>Located in the City of Calgary and supporting grades K to 12, CIS - Akram Jomaa Campus is currently seeking to hire a motivated educator to fill a Temporary, Full-Time Grade 9-11 English Language Arts Teaching position. At the Calgary Islamic School - Akram Jomaa Campus, over 1000 students are in attendance. The student population is highly diverse and many students originate from Middle Eastern and South Asian countries. Students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and are highly motivated to learn and achieve their academic and religious goals. Students at CIS have a variety of learning needs and many students are English Language Learners (ELL). Students are actively involved in extra-curricular activities after school and many co-curricular activities within school. Finally, successful students at CIS are accomplished learners who embody excellence in character and devotion to their religion.<p>When you apply to the Palliser School Division, you can feel good about serving our future leaders and contributing to student success.<p>Benefits: <p><p> Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan (ASEBP) coverage (as per collective agreement).<p><p>Responsibilities: <p><p> Establishes clear objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of Alberta Education, and communicates these objectives to students. Prepares for assigned classes, and demonstrates written evidence of preparation upon request. Prepares materials for learning, and classrooms for activities, as appropriate.<p> Instructs using a variety of instructional approaches appropriate for grade level, student needs and program focus. Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. Assigns lessons and corrects homework.<p> Observes and evaluates students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Prepares, administers, and grades a variety of student evaluative tools such as projects, tests, assignments in order to evaluate students' progress. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct student records as required.<p> Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order and safety among the students for whom they are responsible, under the guidance of the Principal. Enforces all administrative policies and rules governing students.<p> Meets with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress. Confers with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to discuss children's progress and resource needs, and to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems, as appropriate.<p> Confers with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
