Must be available to work evenings and weekendsResponsibilitiesAs the Switcher/Director, you are a team leader in the control room. You are responsible for the switching and direction of CTV's Question Period and packaged itemsResponsible for set up and operation of the production switcher and associated technical equipment in the control room environmentCollaborates with the Producer to execute the technical and artistic vision for each productionPre-production and taped/live events. Orchestrate control room set up while simultaneously evaluating and assigning all video inputs taking into consideration timing and video levelsField camera, sound and lighting work, both ENG and EFPTravel to locations (local, national, international) to capture audio / video contentOperate cameras, microphones (wired, wireless, boom), portable mixer, lighting instruments, and non-linear editing softwareLive stream, file transfer, and baseband feed audio / video contentQualifications3 to 5 years industry experienceValid driver's license & PassportFamiliarity with all aspects of electronic news gathering / production / editing / feeding / streaming / file transferOperating knowledge of professional broadcast equipment including but not limited to Sony PXW-X400 cameras, digital recording media, waveform monitors and vectorscopesExperience in news-style editing using non-linear editing platforms both in the station and on field notebook computersWorking knowledge of consumer and prosumer devices for image / video capture, streaming and transferMust have strong leadership skills as well as great people skills since the relationship between the Director, Engineering, Technical StaffMust have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise mannerTakes ownership and accountability for assigned projectsFamiliarity with all aspects of field video, audio and lightingAbility to travel on short noticeProficient in Avid, iNewsKnowledge of chyronExperience with DSLR camera#EmployeeReferralProgramAdequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.Additional Information:Position Type: Union Job Status: Regular - Full Time Job Location: Canada : Ontario : Ottawa Work Arrangement: Full-time in office (meaning that you will be required to perform your work on-site)Application Deadline: 11/22/2024 For work arrangements that are 'Hybrid', successful candidat
