<p>POSTED: November 5, 2024 <p>CLOSING DATE: November 12, 2024 <p>COMPETITION # 2024-116 <p>PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION TEACHER <p>Full-time (1.0 FTE) position<p>cole Cedardale Elementary<p>*Effective December 20th, 2024 until June 30, 2025<p>*This assignment may start earlier than the given start dateThe annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from approximately $50,000 to $109,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE. Required Qualifications and Experience <p>This position replaces a teacher that is on a leave. The successful applicant for this position must possess a Certificate of Qualification from the Teacher Regulation Branch and demonstrate evidence of the following: Native-like fluency in spoken and written French;<p> A sound pedagogy in French Immersion education;<p> Demonstrated understanding and experience supporting a balanced literacy programme with emergent readers in a French Immersion setting<p> Understanding, training and experience with the IB Pinter YP curriculum preferably with the completion of at least one Level 1, 2, or 3 workshop; <p> Current knowledge, recent successful experience and training at the primary levels in French Immersion with a strong background in integrating curriculum areas, <p> Experience with pedagogy and implementation of combined classes would be an asset;<p> An ability to develop a positive learning environment addressing the intellectual, physical and emotional needs of this age group;<p> Knowledge and willingness to use Inquiry-based approach to planning and teaching;<p> Demonstrated ability and experience to teach, assess and plan a program building on the goals and outcomes of the new Ministry of Education curriculum;<p> Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and proven ability, commitment and drive to work co-operatively and effectively with other educators in a collegial team setting;<p> Possess excellent communication skills with students, staff and parents;<p> Knowledge and experience in working with Special Needs students and support staff with a focus on Differentiated Instruction in the classroom and demonstrated ability to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners through a broad array of teaching strategies and differentiated instruction;<p> Extensive knowledge and experience in the area of Technology and the ability to integrate technology such as Coding, and ADST-related curriculum into the learning;<p> Ability to use formative assessment practices to improve student achievement with emphasis on the Performance Standards;<p> A classroom management style that focuses on structure, mutual respect, natural consequences, consistency and positive reinforcement;<p> Knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of needs;<p> Ability to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods;<p> Competencies as set out by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch for professional educators in schools.Why West Vancouver Schools? <p>West Vancouver Schools, the premier place for learning, has a long-held reputation for excellence and innovation.
