Applications are invited from teachers with <p>BC Certification for the following teaching position: <p>North Island Secondary School, Port McNeill, BC <p>1.0 FTE Temporary - Careers 12, Social Studies 10, and Counselling <p>Commencing: November 12, 2024 until March 7, 2025 <p>or return of the incumbent, whichever comes first <p>The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: Master's degree in Counselling; <p> completion of a Bachelor of Education; <p> certification by or eligible to become BC certified by the BC Teacher Certification Branch; <p> recent successful experience as a school counsellor at the secondary level; <p> academic training, qualifications and recent successful experience teaching secondary level Careers and Social Studies; <p> strong classroom management skills; <p> the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies; <p> the ability and desire to work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach to teaching and learning; <p> knowledge and experience working with students with exceptionalities; <p> training and experience in CPI, Threat Assessment, Crisis Response and Suicide Risk Assessment; <p> successful experience liaising with parents, school-based teams, external agencies, and community-based professionals and coordinating SEL interventions using a multi-agency approach; <p> strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills; <p> strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and <p> ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices. <p>Please contact Ms. Lauren Deadman, Acting Principal (250-956-3394) if you have any questions with respect to the assignment. <p>APPLICATION PROCESS <p>Interested applicants should apply online through the Make a Future website (www.makeafuture.ca). <p>Alternatively, you may submit a rsum, transcripts, 3 supervisor references, practicum reports or teaching evaluations, BC teaching credentials, and an SD85 Application for Teaching (available at www.sd85.bc.ca). <p>Apply By NOON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2024 to: <p>Ms. Rena Sweeney, Assistant Superintendent Vancouver Island North School District 85 <p>Telephone: (250) 949-6618, Ext. 2229 <p>Email: rsweeney@sd85.bc.ca <p>Incomplete application packages will not be considered. <p>INTERNAL/EXTERNAL <p>We are honoured to live, learn, work, and play on the traditional lands of the Kwakwaka'wakw nations. <p>cc: VINTA November 1, 2024- LocationPort McNeill, BC
