Job details
* Ability to read and comprehend Banquet Event Orders
* Set up banquet/meeting room as per function sheet and as instructed by Supervisor to include linen, dishes, cutlery and glassware.
* Move and arrange furniture as per function sheet and customer requests achieving professional and uniform presentation of all items.
* This includes considerable physical activity in transporting awkward and heavy materials such as staging, tables, chairs, dance floors, etc., from storage area to banquet and meeting rooms
* Attend pre-event meetings to learn function particulars, including menu items, method and order of service and guest and hotel expectations.
* Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
* Serve the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation of the Supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet. Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal at the end of the meal or function.
* Scrape food debris and correctly stack china, load glass racks, cutlery trays at the wash-up area in order to contribute to efficient running of the wash-up area and minimize breakage.
* Alert the supervisor immediately to any spillage during service as required by company policy.
* Be competent in wine/drinks table service subject to meeting minimum age requirements related to service of alcohol and hold a valid Smart Serve certificate for service of alcohol as required by company policy.
* Replenish beverages as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
* To refresh rooms during breaks to maintain professional presentation of the room and non-interference with presentation material.
* Once function is complete, break down all meeting rooms where meetings have concluded and return to storage closet so the room will be available to be reset for the next function. Maintain established cleaning schedule of meeting rooms and ballrooms so the rooms stay presentable at all times. 1
* To provide a proactive response to additional guest requests while ensuring communication of additional consumption items for billing to appropriate personnel.
* To achieve timely and quiet service of refreshments as per function sheet.
* To be competent in the set up/operation of audio-visual equipment as per manufacturer?s instructions or contact the audio visual hire company as set down by property policy.
* To carry out cleaning of banquet/meeting rooms following procedures including vacuuming, emptying garbage.
* To ensure neat and safe storage of all tables/chairs/equipment/dishes/cutlery/linen and all supplies in line with company policy.
* To ensure timely delivery of messages/deliveries to banquet/meeting rooms unless no interruptions specifically requested by the organizer.
* Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
* Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
* Communicate with supervisor throughout shift to be aware of the work.
* Gratuities will be paid in addition to hourly wage.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: From $17.20 per hour
Expected hours: 15 ? 20 per week
