Job Summary <p>Reporting to the Principal, the Designated Early Childhood Educator will partner with the Catholic classroom teacher to plan and implement a full day early learning program supporting faith initiatives within a Catholic classroom setting and provide supervision and age appropriate Catholic programming for groups of students.<p>This is a 10 month per year position, working 7 hours per day, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm.<p>Required Qualifications :<p><p> A two-year Early Childhood Education Diploma and proof of registration and good standing with The College of Early Childhood Educators (photocopy of registration certificate required)<p> Minimum of six months childcare experience in a childcare or educational setting<p> Current CPR and First Aid Certificate (photocopy of certificates required)<p><p>Skills & Competencies: <p><p> Knowledge of Ministry of Education full day early learning program and related legislation; knowledge of SMCDSB related polices and procedures.<p> Proven ability, experience and skill in working as a member of a team.<p> Proven ability to communicate effectively and in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents, staff and the general public<p> Understanding of commitment to confidentiality.<p> Proven ability to deal with classroom management, stressful and emergency situations.<p> Demonstrated experience in successfully designing, planning and implementing age appropriate Catholic programs.<p> Basic computer skills, strong organization and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.<p> Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and move/carry equipment for program, and must be able to physically assist children as required and repetitive bending.<p><p>Application Process: <p>SMCDSB uses Apply to Education to recruit permanent and supply Designated Early Childhood Educators.
