Looking for a career where you can make a real difference? WaterPower Canada (WPC) is the national voice of the hydro-power industry. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, organized and detail-oriented individual to join our fast-paced team as a Communications Manager, to help us raise awareness of our industry across the country.
The Communications Manager will work alongside the senior management team to determine the organization?s Marketing & Communication needs while developing marketing plans and strategies. The Manager plays a key role in leading and preparing reports and communication materials, writing and editing content, executing projects, creating and posting graphic design and managing communications between the association and its membership. They will also be responsible for planning, coordinating, reviewing, and assisting in media outreach and the development of new resources, services and initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop and deliver communication products including reports, proposals, communication plans, press releases and public awareness campaigns
* Communicate and build rapport with partners and stakeholders
* Manage priorities and workflow within the communications and government affairs team
* Prepare, develop and implement of key messaging and media relations strategies
* Prepare and develop promotions for association events
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
*Required*
* Bachelor?s degree and/or advanced diploma in communications, public relations, marketing or related field
* 5+ years of experience
* Superior written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to develop press materials and presentations
* Superior problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills
* Ability to work independently
* Experience with multi-tasking and adapting within a fast-paced environment
* Experience in effectively communicating complex information (oral, written and interpersonal)
* Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, the Adobe Creative Suite, and digital platforms and tools such as Mail Chimp, Word Press, Canva, LinkedIn, Survey Monkey, etc
* French/English bilingualism is considered an asset
* Experience in electricity, energy and environment sectors will be considered an asset.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
* Develop and execute impactful marketing strategies aligned with company goals. Conduct market research
* Oversee the creation and consistency of all marketing materials across channels
* Inspire creativity and innovation within the team.
* Lead SEO, SEM, email, social media, and content marketing campaigns. Grow social media presence and manage public relations
* Use analytics to measure campaign success and align with member objectives
* Collaborate with team members to develop communication strategies. Analyze feedback and create programs to build lasting relationships with stakeholders and the public
* Stay updated on industry trends. Prepare for industry events and produce strategic content
* Maintain a detailed annual planning calendar to manage shifting priorities

* Proven experience in developing and executing successful marketing strategies in a leadership role
* Exceptional communication skills and the ability to create compelling brand messaging
* You are known as a self-starter and your initiative is recognized by your peers
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate closely with colleagues from Government Relations and Events
