Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Work site environment: Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Work setting: Industrial. Tasks: Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC). Operate hoisting and lifting equipment. Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Forklift Operator Certification. Apprenticeship training: Pre-apprenticeship training. Level one apprenticeship training. Type of materials: Aluminum alloys. Steel, iron and heavy metals. Welding techniques: Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW). Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG). Fusion welds. Brazing and soldering. Equipment and machinery experience: Arc welding machine. Gas welding machine. Area of specialization: Cast iron and other metals. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence.
