Position: Latin Teacher - five-month contract<p>Department: Languages, Senior School<p>Reports To: Principal, Senior School<p>Starting Date: January 13, 2025 (until June 15, 2025)<p>Application Closing Date: November 3, 2024<p>Annual Salary: $72,969 - $118,916 (pro-rated)<p>St. George?s School is seeking an experienced and engaged Latin teacher to join the Languages department at the Senior School after the winter break for a short-term parental leave coverage contract. This role requires an innovative teaching professional to support a collaborative learning environment using engaging and meaningful pedagogy focused on student learning and growth.<p>Faculty are required to support the school?s advisory and co-curricular program. The co-curricular program includes recreational athletics, competitive athletics, and academic clubs and is offered a minimum of two times per week per term.<p>Faculty at St. George?s School embody our core competencies: empathy, integrity, humility, respect, responsibility and resilience. BIPoC and 2SLGBTQIA+ people and those with disabilities are warmly encouraged to apply, and invited to reach out for more information about our commitment to diversity, inclusion and belonging.<p>Responsibilities will include: <p><p> Bringing in a diversity of voices and worldviews to classroom material and learning experiences, including Indigenous, local, and global perspectives.<p> Demonstrating commitment to incorporating real-world connections and problem solving into teaching and learning.<p> Collaborating with colleagues to align planning, instruction, and assessment across sections of a course, or to similar standards within the department.<p> Utilizing outcomes-based assessment and instruction as well as strong formative and summative assessment strategies.<p> Incorporating Core Competencies regularly into lessons, assessments, and feedback.<p> Building a strong rapport with students and supporting the students in bringing out their best, both in and out of the classroom.<p> Regular communication to students, parents, and other stakeholders about student needs and growth, including but not limited to IEP meetings, formal report cards, and parent teacher-student conferences.<p> Collaborating with other members of faculty within the department and across other departments to foster and sustain learning communities in the classroom and in the school.<p> Using a variety of pedagogical approaches & lesson design.<p> Making relevant and innovative use of multiple technologies in the classroom, including using Canvas as a student learning platform and PowerSchool Gradebook for reporting.<p> Provides TTOC coverage. Number of TTOC blocks may increase in May, following the return of the employee on leave.<p> Participating actively in professional development opportunities and training programs.<p> Modeling the school?s core competencies which include: humility, integrity, respect, resilience, empathy and responsibility.<p> Leading a small group of students in-school Advisory program, providing leadership and mentorship in social-emotional learning. This includes weekly Advisory sessions and scheduled Flex Days.<p> Contributing to the life and functioning of the school, through regular supervision duty, timely reading and responding to communication, and supporting school initiatives and events.<p><p>Qualifications will include: <p><p> BC Teaching Certificate or Independent School Teaching Certificate.<p> Post-secondary degree in the area of Languages with an emphasis on Latin.
