*Nesters Market *has an opening for a *Bakery Clerk* at our location in *Gabriola*, *BC*. This role is *full-Time* and reports to the Store Manager. Clerks are responsible for providing fast and friendly service to customers in our busy grocery store. *Job duties and responsibilities:* * Provide superior customer service to all guests * Efficiently stock and display product in a neat and appealing manner * Ensure a clean and sanitary environment * Assist guests with product recommendations and locations, requests, and special orders * Deal with customer concerns and/or complaints * Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers * Assist in receiving, unloading and stocking of merchandise * Merchandise, price, label and stock all bakery products * Ensure accuracy of store signage with regards to pricing * Willingness to cross train and work in the Deli department and possibly others: Meat, Produce, Cashier, Customer Service * To perform other duties and tasks assigned, as consistent with the nature and scope of the position *Skills and qualifications:* * At least one year of retail or customer service experience * Prior bakery knowledge/experience is an asset * Minimum high school diploma * Food safety certification preferred * Above average interpersonal and communication skills * Superb customer service skills with a desire to provide a great shopping experience for customers * Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills * Ability to work in a safe and responsible manner * Work well independently or in a collaborative team environment * Willingness and availability to work varied shifts including early morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays if necessary * Physical ability to stand, lift, and handle up to 50 pounds on a regular basis * Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment * Proven track record as a self-starter; dedicated and goal orientated * Ability to follow established company policies * Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written *Our commitment to you:* * Competitive wages with starting rates based on experience * Automatic pay increases based on the number of hours you have worked * Flexible work environment to fit almost any schedule * Room for advancement - all new opportunities posted internally first * Company matched RRSP Program * _For full time positions_: Comprehensive benefits package including Dental, Extended Health, Life & Disability insurance If you feel that you possess the knowledge, skills and abilities mentioned above then we would love to hear from you! *Ready to apply?* * Respond to this job ad: apply in confidence directly to the hiring team * In person: drop off your application at the store ?*#15 575 North Road, Gabriola, BC* * Please include a cover letter outlining your work schedule / availability Please note: We are accepting all applications.
