Job Title: Technical Writer Department: Information Services - Operations Competition: 87523 Internal/External: Both Employment Type: Full Time Permanent Location: Flexible work arrangement (fully remote or hybrid options available) Salary: Competitive salary and benefits Reports To: Team Leader We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our Operations Training team! Someone who can help create and build out a modern documentation and user assistance infrastructure. Are you collaborative, self-motivated, adaptable, and innovative? Do you have a passion for producing technical content for public consumption? If so, this might be the opportunity for you! Operations sets up and administers new group and individual insurance policies, handles the analysis and payment of insurance claims, and manages customer service for our clients. Position Summary: As a Technical Writer, you will be primarily responsible for maintaining, enhancing and developing a wide range of online user manuals and training support material. Using specialized knowledge in editing, you will create documentation in a way that will communicate complex, technical information in nontechnical language. You will work closely with operational Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and colleagues from the Operations Training Team to enhance documentation infrastructure that will advance training modernization and continuous improvement initiatives. For this position, we are looking for an original individual with creative qualities who is, highly motivated, an organized thinker with superior writing skills and has the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Key Responsibilities Include: Researcher: write and revise content that is both engaging and accessible to an audience with both technical and non-technical backgrounds. Editor: will ensure consistency in the documentation of online user manuals (SharePoint based manuals and ProcedureFlow), training support and other written materials. Collaborative: work closely with subject matter experts to gather and analyse technical/procedural specifications to accurately document new or changing functionality and/or procedures. Regular use of SharePoint Online to manage the lifecycle of technical/procedural documentation including draft, review and publish phases. Gather end-user feedback on documentation to improve usability. Contribute to the documentation standards, including participating in peer editing. Communicate reminders, updates or new items to all stakeholders in a timely manner. Manage multiple projects, including negotiating timelines, defining project goals and ensuring deadlines and service standards are met. Update and maintain reporting mechanisms for assignment purposes.
