About Us:
Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte (MBQ) is a vibrant First Nation community located on the beautiful shores of the Bay of Quinte. We are located approximately 20 minutes from Belleville, ON and centrally located between Toronto and Ottawa. There are approximately 11,000 registered members with approximately 2200 residing in Tyendinaga. Position Summary:
Position is responsible for the safe operation and clean-up of buses and for the safe delivery of bus passengers.
Reporting:
This position will report to the Mohawk Bus Lines Manager.
Summary of Main Responsibilities:
?Responsible for pickup and delivery of passengers:
o completing assigned routes
o ensuring replacements are available when unable to work
o ensuring receipt of schedules and details of charters for the school, other MBQ departments and community organizations
?Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the bus:
o keeping debris picked up
o monitoring operating systems through a daily walk around inspection
o checking fluid levels
o visual inspection of lights, body and instrumentation
o reporting problems to the Bus Manager for repair and notes same in daily log
?Ensures the safety of passengers:
o ensure reporting discipline problems to the Bus Manager
omonitoring passengers to ensure compliance with bus rules
oadhering to the Occupational Health & Safety procedures
?Health and Safety:
oPromoting and following all MBQ Health and Safety policies and procedures
?All other duties as required
Requirements:
?Must posses a valid Class ?B? license;
?Must consent to annual driver?s abstract to be kept on file;
?Must provide a clear VSC every 2 years (documentation will be required if successful applicant);
?Must obtain a medical exam every 3 years;
?Experience in a First Nations setting preferred
?First Aid and CPR an asset (and must be willing to take the training if hired)
?Valid Driver?s License and vehicle
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
?Good verbal and written communications skills;
?Good organizational skills;
?Must have a Commercial Vehicle Operator?s Registration
?Policies, procedures and legislation as they pertain to busing including the MBQ policies;
?High degree of initiative, judgment and self-direction;
?Positive and cheerful approach with children;
?Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
