Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. At heights. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Industrial. Manufacture. Marine. Tasks: Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines. Fit, braze and torch-straighten metal. Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC). Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Welder Trade Red Seal Certificate. Fall Arrest Protection Training Course. Forklift Operator Certification. Type of materials: Aluminum alloys. Stainless steel. Steel, iron and heavy metals. Welding techniques: Resistance, spot or seam. Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW). Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG). Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Tubular. Equipment and machinery experience: Arc welding machine. Gas welding machine. Area of specialization: Custom fabrication. Marine repair. Machinery or equipment repair. Shipbuilding and repair. Structural construction. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Valid driver's licence. Public transportation is not available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods.
