*Parlee McLaws LLP* is a regional law firm with Alberta roots extending back more than 135 years. We are looking for an experienced *Litigation Legal Assistant *to join our team. This role is located at our *downtown* *Edmonton *office.
The successful candidate is a self-starter with high attention to detail, a sense of urgency, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to learn quickly while supporting busy practice(s). Experience with *litigation* is essential.
The hours of work are *Monday to Friday, 8:00AM ? 4:30PM* (37.5 hours/week) and requires daily in-office presence.

*You will deliver on:*
* Conducting court searches
* Drafting correspondence, court, and financing legal documents
* Accurate transcription of dictation
* Preparing a variety of legal documents including briefs and factums
* Pro-active management of files and task timelines to ensure required statutes of limitations and deadlines are met
* Scheduling various applications and questionings
* Managing incoming workflow from a team of lawyers
* Calendar management, including coordinating and scheduling meetings
* Preparation of accounts and time entry
* Generating reporting as required
* General administrative tasks including office and file management
* Other tasks as required
*You possess:*
* A minimum of 3 years of previous experience as a legal assistant in a litigation practice (administrative assistant experience is an asset)
* Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant/Paralegal program (equivalent experience may be considered)
* Substantial reliability and adaptability accompanied by a professional demeanor and conduct
* Keen attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
* Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English with solid spelling and grammar skills (additional language skills are an asset)
* A curious mind with the ability to learn quickly, retain knowledge, and effectively apply the learning
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs as well as other software such as Worldox, Elite 3E, Remindex, SpeechExec or similar programs
* Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines with a high degree of personal initiative
* Understanding of basic accounting principles
* Handling of confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
* Effective collaboration and efficiency as a part of a team as well as working independently
* Strong client service and relationship building skills
* Adaptability to changing priorities and effectiveness in a high-volume work environment
* Problem-solving skills with a pro-active mindset
* Experience with all levels of court is an asset
