* *Job Title: *Mechanical Engineer
* *Department: *Operations
* *Reports to: *Engineering Manager
*JOB SUMMARY*
This candidate must have a background in the design of mechanical systems with experience in 3D design and drafting. This candidate will have a positive and enthusiastic attitude, be a team player and have a willingness to learn continuously.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES* (the incumbent may be asked to perform any combination of the following functions):
1. Translate concepts or ideas into technical drawings and schematics using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
2. Create parametric models, BOMs, detailed and fabrication drawings as required.
3. Design and prototype new products and perform research and development.
4. Oversee the prototyping and testing phases to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and reliability standards
5. Perform strength analysis of machine components and structures
6. Coordinate and manage contractors as required.
7. Maintain accurate revision history on each drawing.
8. Contribute to the engineering departments document management system.
9. Create manuals as required.
10. Support field installations and training efforts as required.
11. Prepare costings and budgets as required.
12. All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
*EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE *
* Mechanical Engineering degree or Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma or equivalent training and experience
* P.Eng. certification in the province of Ontario would be an asset
* Exceptional candidates will have strong business and technical acumen.
*Summary Skill Requirements: *
*o Technical:*
* Knowledge of: Mechanical design principles including kinematics, force analysis, pneumatic, hydraulic and manufacturing/machine shop techniques, material & material strength, standard mechanical and electrical components to be incorporated within designs
* Strong technical skills and experience with Solid Works 3D CAD software, in both 3D design and 2D drawings
* Strength analysis of machine components and structures
* Strong working knowledge of developing concepts and finalizing designs for multiple projects
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Solid Works, Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint
*o Data Management: *
* Familiar with the security and controls for applications and data.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify errors and trends, and communicate same
* Is proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Solid Works, Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint
- Minimum of 5-8 years Engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- A willingness to learn and be cross-trained within IWI.
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS *
* Standing/walking.
* May provide support in operations, involving some physical effort.
