<p>Position Description <p>A temporary part time (0.6) Primary Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective November 1, 2024 until June 30, 2025. <p>The assignment will be at the Key Learning Centre in Fort St John, BC. This is not a remote teaching position.<p><p>The Key<p>Learning Centre (KLC) is a Provincial Online Learning School (POLS) providing online learning to students within School District No. 60 and throughout the province of British Columbia.. As an alternative to traditional 'brick & mortar' schools we offer asynchronous, flexibly scheduled educational programming via an online delivery model.<p>The KLC has a<p>staffing complement of nine teachers, nine support staff (clerical, EA,<p>LAT, tech support) and administration. The staff is very innovative<p>and takes full advantage of technologies to bridge distances and create<p>an effective, vibrant social learning environment. Point your browser<p>to www.keylearning.ca for more information.<p> <p> <p>Qualifications and Experience <p><p> Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)<p> Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects<p> Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students<p> Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills<p> Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning.<p> Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community<p> contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student<p> feels a sense of belonging<p> Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn<p> Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition<p> Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning<p> Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity<p> Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity<p> A working knowledge of, or be willing to quickly learn, the<p> technology needed to deliver the online portion of an educational<p> program. (ie. Zoom Whiteboard, BrightSpace, Google Education, FileMaker,<p> Adobe Acrobat, social media channels.)<p> An understanding and commitment to the primary level philosophy and willingness to adapt that philosophy to an OL and<p> blended learning environment.<p> Knowledge of OL course offerings and procedures would be an asset.<p> Aware of BC MoE Primary School Curriculum. Also, be able to<p> realize the Ministry of Education initiatives dealing with 21st Century<p> and personalized learning in an OL and blended learning environment.<p> Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well<p> with students, parents and staff members in both face to face and online<p> environments.<p> Demonstrated ability to work in a partnership with parents/home facilitators.<p> A willingness to incorporate a variety of online learning<p> strategies aligned with best practice current in the online<p> learning field in their teaching methodologies.<p> The ability to set up a learning environment that supports<p> active engagement among learners and between student and educator<p> through asynchronous and synchronous strategies and through<p> project-based learning.<p> Open to the idea of team teaching several grades in collaboration with one or more teachers.<p> A willingness to develop a social online environment for students to interact and learn within.<p> The ability to design a course of study for students on an open learning program or students requiring an IEP/SLP<p> The ability to carry out a variety of assessments including<p> classroom and virtual classroom observation, administration and<p> interpretation of norm-referenced tests, curriculum-based assessment and<p> diagnostic teaching m
