Education: College/CEGEP. Behavioural sciences. Therapeutic recreation/recreational therapy. Work setting: Community service organization. Health care institution, facility or clinic. Tasks: Conduct psychosocial assessments. Evaluate the effectiveness of social programs . Interview client individually, in families, or in groups, to assess their situation and problems to determine the types of services required . Plan programs of assistance for clients. Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals working with a client group. Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling and the patient's outcomes. Monitor and evaluate. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Provincial certificate of registration. Membership in a provincial association of social workers. Membership with the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW). Target audience: Elderly. People with personal or social adjustment difficulty. Persons with an intellectual disability. Persons with physical disabilities. Social work specialization: Health. Family mediation. Palliative care. Security and safety: Immunization records. Tuberculosis test. Vulnerable sector check.
