Industrial Education Machine Fitter<p> (Subject to Internal Staffing Process) <p>The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $210 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff; which includes, teachers, principals and vice-principals, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.<p>The Industrial Education Machine Fitter is responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing all power tools and equipment used in the delivery of educational programs throughout the Greater Victoria School District.<p>Qualifications; <p><p> Legally able to work in Canada<p> Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience<p> Must possess a valid Class 5 BC driver's license<p> Machine Fitter Trade Certification or a recognized trade certification in a related field as issued or recognized by the Province of B.C. that requires proficiency working according to very precise specifications; operating precision metal cutting and grinding machines such as lathes, planers, milling machines, saws, drills, shapers, boring mills and grinders.<p> Completion of five (5) or more years of specific experience in similar duties is required<p> Must be physically able to perform all duties as noted in the Job Description<p> Possess knowledge of personal computers, including current word processing, spreadsheet, database and facilities management software used by SD#61<p> Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions<p> Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders in a leadership role. Stakeholders could include principals, teachers, students, parents, office staff and Facilities staff, etc.<p> Maintains a cooperative working relationship with other workers, supervisory and teaching staff, students and the public<p><p>This position falls within the CUPE Local 382 bargaining unit at a salary of $37.90 per hour.
