Flocor Inc., is subsidiary of Deschenes Group Inc. and a leader in the industrial pipe, valve and fitting distribution industry. We are searching for a Junior Accountant for compiling the monthly financial scorecard, to prepare and enter journal entries, analyze budget variances, prepare notes on month end issues, reconcile balance sheet accounts and generate year end files for audit purposes. The position is also responsible to participate in the annual budgeting process, undertake special projects as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience and knowledge working in the finance department. The incumbent will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with our staff nationally. Computer literacy is required.
*RESPONSIBILITIES:*
· Prepare and enter journal entries utilizing critical thought processes and examination procedures
· Assist with the preparation of financial statements
· Reconcile GL accounts during and after the month end and prepare analysis relating to the month end
· Prepare and generate monthly financial scorecard. Analyse the results to identify company financial performance issues.
· In conjunction with the accounting staff, review budget variances on a monthly basis, investigate and report on variances and ensure corrective actions are taken where necessary
· Participate in the annual budget and process including but not limited to the preparation analysis required for budget development
· Assist with preparation and coordination of the annual audit process; pulling invoices and supporting documentation
· Review sales tax on purchases, and sales for accuracy ensuring the right sales tax is charged.
· Responsible for Accounts Payable entry and support department
· Work with all locations to review variances and invoices on hold, communicates and investigates variances/issues, clears invoices from Variance Held Report as directed
· Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
· Support electronic bank deposit scanning, ensuring all daily transactions are scanned into the system
· Responsible to develop, maintain and evaluate queries using Mincron system to support inventory control analysis and reporting
· Prepare and generate reports as required/requested
· Responsible to participate in the Company Health and Safety Program; to undertake training as required/requested; to ensure adherence to all Health and Safety guidelines
· Prepare and generate spreadsheets and reports as required/requested
· Assist with the organization and execution of physical inventory
· Other duties as assigned
*QUALIFICATIONS:*
* University degree/College diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or related discipline
* Minimum eighteen months (18) experience in an accounting environment
* A combination of education and experience
* Actively pursuing Charter Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
* Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal and negotiations/problem solving skills
* High degree of accuracy with attention to detail
* Possess an intermediate level of computer competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and good mathematical skills
* Self-starter, well organized with ability to multi-task and execute a plan of action
* Must be able to self-manage and prioritize goals with minimal supervision
