Executive Director - St. John'sOn behalf of Team Broken Earth (TBE), Higher Talent is currently searching for a full-time Executive Director to lead its professional and passionate team of volunteers in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. TBE is a registered Canadian charity that focuses on providing medical education and healthcare in international settings and local communities. The Executive Director will oversee the organization's diverse operations and shape the strategy and approach to fulfilling TBE's purpose.The ideal candidate has deep roots in community development and healthcare and is action-oriented, creative, and adept at fundraising.What you will be doing:Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for:Shaping the strategy and vision best to deliver the organization's purpose into the future. Lead the finalization and implementation of a new five-year strategic plan for TBE, including providing regular operational and financial updates to the Board of Directors. Ensure sound board governance practices, policies and effective communications throughout the implementation of the strategic plan. Engaging and energizing TBE's current and prospective volunteers, funders and the public to support the organization's mandate delivery. Works to grow TBE's national footprint. Oversee operations to ensure program evolution and excellence and maintain sustainability. Identifying and securing new sources of operational funding. Oversee the organization's financial health, including budget development, timely activity, and financial reporting. Overseeing Team financing, financial reporting, and accountability at the Team level. Act as the organization's lead spokesperson for community engagements, media outreach, and events. Proactively develop outreach opportunities for the organization and advocate on behalf of the charity and its beneficiaries to bring attention to community and international health issues and support medical care and education. Working with the Board of Directors and committees to provide risk management of the organization's undertakings. Identify, assess, monitor and limit risk exposure. Maintaining strong relationships with all funders, colleagues, affiliated organizations, stakeholders and community partners. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment for TBE staff and team volunteers. Work to build a diverse, inclusive, engaged medical volunteer network across Canada. Provide robust and strong communications to all team volunteers.What you will bring:7-10 years of progressive leadership at a senior levelUniversity degree in business or public administration, international development, health administration, global affairs or a health profession.Previous experience as an Executive Director in the nonprofit sector would be an asset.Experience in healthcare administration or healthcare operations would be an asset.Experience and comfort in public speaking and/or public relations and delivering presentations.Experience in fundraising, proposal writing, grant applications and social enterprise.Experience in managing budgets, preparing financial reports and securing funding from multiple sources.Ability to coach, motivate and manage staff.Knowledge of good board governance practices and risk management.Exceptional networking and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrated experience in collaborating to build partnerships to increase the organization's long-term sustainability.The Perks:Team Broken Earth is a well-established national organization with a strong reputation and track record of impactful international relief work, having its roots in Newfoundland and Labrador.The new Executive Director will benefit from joining an organization with mature operational practices and a sustainable, team-based delivery model, with the opportunity to shape and grow the organization in the future.Team Broken Earth offers
