INTERNAL / EXTERNAL<p>C ompetition # 23-45 <p>EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY<p>INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER <p> <p>Nisga?a School District No.92 has an exciting opportunity for an IT Manager to join our team in New Aiyansh, BC. Reporting directly to the Secretary-Treasurer, this is a full-time position starting as soon as possible.<p>Nisga?a School District is in the majestic and breathtakingly beautiful Nass valley in northwestern British Columbia. The district encompasses the traditional treaty territory of the Nisga?a Nation along the Nass River. People from around the world are drawn to Nisga?a lands to experience diverse outdoor explorations, including the volcano, Lava Bed Park, natural hot springs, fishing, hiking, hunting, kayaking/canoeing, biking, sledding, etc., as well as to encounter Nisga?a culture.<p>In this leadership role working closely with key decision makers, you will be responsible for the administration and operation of the Information Technology (IT) Department. This will involve planning, coordinating, and directing all IT related activities of the organization. The successful applicant will have experience in departmental supervision and evaluation processes.<p>The district offers comfortable housing at a reasonable cost and enjoys small class size in all four district schools, which are located within one hour of each other along the banks of the Nass River.<p>T he successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to: <p><p> Manage the implementation and support of technology systems and networks in the district<p> Manage and implement best practices for delivering and implementing security policies, information services, and technical support and communicate related procedures to district staff<p> Ensure that all systems, both information and networks are secure and backed up on a regular basis<p> Supervise, plan, schedule, direct and evaluate the IT technician<p> Implement, support and monitor district recovery plans and network and system security parameters<p> Ensure adherence to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy legislation<p> Prepare a long-term technology plan for the district<p> Develop strong communication processes with schools and district users of information technology<p> Support the strategic plan for the use of technology to support student learning goal<p> Provides for leadership in the design and oversees the implementation of the district?s Privacy Management Plan<p><p> <p>Other qualifications include: <p><p> At least 3 years of relevant IT experience <p> Industry recognized certifications in Information and Communication Technology<p> Experience with firewalls, Microsoft server and network operating systems, web information systems, large scale local and area wide computer networking components and protocol <p> A valid BC driver?s license and access to a reliable vehicle to use on the job<p> Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical users<p> Experience and knowledge in information technology planning and disaster recovery<p><p>This is an outstanding opportunity for a team focused leader who has strong customer relationship skills at the senior management level. Strong coaching and technical staff management experience is essential, as is a demonstrated managerial ability to respond to frequent demands from multiple internal clients on assigned tasks. Excellent analytical, problem solving, and quantitative skills will be keys to your success.
