<p>POSTED: September 26, 2024 <p>CLOSING DATE: October 3, 2024 <p>COMPETITION: 2024-112 SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER <p>Part-time (0.125 FTE) position<p>Rockridge Secondary School<p>Effective immediately until the return of the absent teacherThe annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $50,000 to $109,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.Required Qualifications and Experience <p>A part-time teaching position (0.125 FTE) is available teaching junior social studies. This position is to fill in for a teacher on a leave. The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:<p> Evidence of appropriate qualifications and experience in teaching Social Studies.<p> Solid understanding of the Ministry of Education Core Competencies, Big Ideas, and Learning Standards for Social Studies.<p> The successful candidate would be willing to explore Indigenous literature and themes; encourage critical, creative, and reflective thought with regard to Canadas First Peoples; as well as collaborate with colleagues to build upon established units. <p> Ability to evaluate and report on student progress using Ministry of Education proficiency scales and IB MYP assessment standards and practices;<p> A willingness to work collaboratively with the IB MYP Coordinator and other classroom teachers to authentically develop IB MYP units of study;<p> A commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology into the curriculum;<p> An ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies that can accommodate the learning needs of all types of learners;<p> A proven ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skills;<p> Strong communication skills;<p> Hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate. <p>Why West Vancouver Schools? <p>West Vancouver Schools, the premier place for learning, has a long-held reputation for excellence and innovation.
