Applications are invited for the position of a full-time <p> Manager of Occupational Health and Safety Location : Edson, Alberta. <p>Start Date : Duties will commence immediately.Background Guided by the Division's vision, mission, beliefs, values, and goals, the Manager of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) will assist the Director of Facility Services in fulfilling the general and specific aspects of the role description for the Superintendent as defined in the Education Act and Board Policy. Procedures The Manager of OHS is responsible for implementing and monitoring the occupational health and safety programs within the Division. This includes compliance with relevant safety regulations, conducting safety training, and performing risk assessments to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of employees and students. The Manager of OHS is directly responsible and accountable to the Director of Facility Services. The Manager of OHS will have specific responsibilities for: 1.Leadership Practices <p>1.1The Manager of OHS is viewed positively and has the support of those with whom they work most directly in carrying out their responsibilities. <p>1.2Actively demonstrates and subscribes to the practice of leadership. <p>1.3Works collaboratively with the Director of Facility Services. <p>1.4Works to achieve goals approved by the Superintendent for the Department and the Division. <p>1.5Assists the Director of Facility Services in monitoring the achievement of the goals established for the Department and Division that are related to the duties of this position. <p>1.6Develops and implements a personal professional development plan for their ongoing professional improvement. <p>1.7Provides supervision, evaluation, and supports to the bus mechanics and facilities individuals reporting to this position.2.Safety Policy Development and Implementation <p>2.1Develop, implement, and maintain the Divisions health and safety administrative procedures in accordance with federal, provincial/state, and local regulations.<p>2.2Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws and standards across all school facilities.<p>2.3Develop clear fit-for-duty guidelines and protocols, including when and how evaluations are required.3.Risk Assessment and Hazard Control <p>3.1Perform regular risk assessments of school facilities, labs, workshops, and any area where hazards may exist.<p>3.2Identify potential safety hazards, recommend corrective actions, and follow up to ensure measures are in place.<p>3.3Ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals and other hazardous materials (e.g., in science labs or janitorial supplies).4.Incident Reporting and Investigation <p>4.1Maintain records of all safety incidents, including accidents, near-misses, and injuries.<p>4.2Conduct thorough investigations into accidents or unsafe conditions, determining the root causes and suggesting preventive measures.5.Safety Training and Awareness <p>5.1Plan and deliver regular training sessions for staff, including teachers, support staff, and administrators, on safety protocols, first aid, and emergency procedures.<p>5.2Ensure staff are aware of safety protocols, particularly in areas like physical education, science labs, and industrial arts.<p>5.3Develop safety awareness campaigns and materials to promote a culture of safety within the school division.6.Emergency Preparedness <p>6.1Coordinate with school administration whereby they conduct regular fire drills and other emergency exercises. <p>6.2Ensure that emergency equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, first aid kits, AEDs) is available, functional, and accessible in all Division locations. <p>6.3In collaboration with the Office of the Superintendent, develops and maintains the Business Continuity Plan. <p>6.4Develop and review emergency response plans for the Div
