*The challenge:*
Produce high-quality welds efficiently and safely, adhering to specifications and standards, including the structural integrity, strength, and precision of welds while maintaining a focus on safety protocols and minimizing waste and rework.
*What you'll do:*
* Interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications
* Select appropriate welding equipment and materials
* Prepare surfaces for welding, including cleaning, cutting, and fitting
* Perform welding operations using different techniques, such as SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW
* Operate welding equipment safely and effectively, following safety procedures and using appropriate PPE to prevent incidents and injuries
* Collaborate with other team members, such as designers, fabricators, etc. to complete projects efficiently
* Inspect welds for quality and accuracy
* Troubleshoot welding issues, collaborating with other team members
* Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition
* Maintain a clean and organized work area
* Continuously improve welding skills and knowledge, staying updated on industry developments and best practices
*What you'll have:*
* Must be a Red Seal Journeyperson - hold a valid recognized credential and possess the skills and knowledge expected of a Journeyperson
* CWB certification preferred
* At least 3 years of related experience, preferably in with fabrication of metal buildings or fuel tanks
* Proficiency in various welding techniques such as SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications
* Knowledge of different types of metals and their properties, as well as appropriate welding methods for each type
* Familiarity with welding equipment and tools, including welding machines, gas tanks, electrodes, filler metals, and safety gear.
* Skill in preparing materials and surfaces for welding, including cleaning, cutting, and fitting
* Proficiency in welding inspection techniques to ensure weld quality and compliance with standards
* Ability to troubleshoot welding issues and make adjustments to achieve desired results
* Knowledge of welding safety practices, including proper ventilation, fire protection, and PPE
* Physical fitness and ability to work in reasonably demanding physical situations
* Manual dexterity with the ability to work with hands efficiently and precisely
* Strong English communication skills
* Must demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, effective time management, troubleshooting skills, adaptability in dynamic environments, and the ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced setting
* Strong attention to detail and accountability
* A high level of self-discipline, motivation, and integrity
* Ability to work with little supervision and day-to-day guidance
* Must be articulate and presentable
* Self-starter propensity with the proven ability to lead, take initiative, and work independently
* Team orientation with a sense of humour and positivity
