*Position Summary*
A Constituency Assistant performs a variety of administrative duties in support of the day-to-day operations of the MPP and their constituency office. Responds to and documents all telephone and written inquiries/complaints/concerns raised by constituents. Works co-operatively with other staff to produce communication materials. Ensures the Member or their delegate is well informed of potential issues.
*Qualifications*
· General office and administrative experience required
· Must be knowledgeable in computers (i.e., Microsoft word, excel, Outlook calendar)
· Prior experience in Salesforce database would be an asset
· Must be detail oriented, have good time management skills, and be able to multi-task and take on projects efficiently and in a fast-paced environment
· Must be able to work independently and in a group
· Must have strong communication skills
· Must be patient and empathetic
· Must have the ability to use judgement and discretion, and confidentially handle requests from multiple sources
· Must have the ability to prioritize and determine the appropriate course of action
· Must have knowledge of Provincial, Municipal, and Federal government responsibilities
· Must be available to attend some evening and weekend events
*Major Duties and Responsibilities*
· Must respond to and document constituent inquiries, complaints, and concerns
· Must resolve inquiries, complaints, and concerns independently, with senior staff, or by forwarding to the appropriate ministry or level of government (municipal or federal)
· Must maintain confidential records on constituency concerns
· Must maintain the database and the mailing list
· Must brief the MPP and EA on ongoing issues in the riding
· Must perform community outreach
· Must attend meetings with or on behalf of the Member as required
· Must draft and revise a variety of documents, including speeches for local events, reports, correspondence, etc.
· Must prepare congratulatory scrolls for special occasions, including business openings, birthdays, etc.
· Must perform other duties as assigned
*Experience/Education*
· Post secondary education in administrative studies or equivalent
· Office experience
