The Construction and Equipment Division, a part of the J.D. Irving, Limited's group of companies, is a key player in the North American construction industry. With six operating units within the division, the group provides its customers with heavy equipment and crane services, civil construction, modular home and commercial buildings, wallboard manufacturing, steel and fabrication services, and more.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Specialist, reporting to the Senior Director of Human Resources, Construction & Equipment Division. The selected candidate will work closely with the Corporate Communications team to enhance communication processes and tools across the Division.
*Duties & Responsibilities:*
* Develop and execute work and communications plans to a defined calendar in support of departmental and organizational goals
* Message development from beginning to end, including planning, writing, reviewing, formatting, editing, proofreading, and disseminating through various channels
* Complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding accuracy, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology using approved processes
* Identify, research, assess and create editorial content for internal and external use across the organization in accordance with established processes
* Campaign Management *- *Collaborate with various stakeholders to develop and implement multi-channel campaigns across different platforms, such as social media, digital programmatic, outdoor, and radio, and document the outcomes
* Brand Development & Management *- *Ensure consistent brand messaging and visual identity across all internal and external communication materials, aligning with the overall business strategy to strengthen brand recognition
* Work collaboratively with graphic designers to assist in the development of materials for publication via various channels, including digital, social and print
* Audit internal communication systems and provide advice/recommendations to senior leaders
* Participating in meetings, training sessions, and workshops and providing recommendations for improvements
* Ensure the Divisional photo library is up to date
* Other duties/projects as assigned
*Qualifications & Skills*
* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
* 3+ years of experience in communications, with strong business acumen preferred
* University degree in communications, journalism, or a related field; or a university degree in a related field plus a community college diploma in communications or marketing
* High-energy, customer-focused contributor with a dedication to meeting organizational goals
* Proven experience in developing, delivering, and optimizing social and digital media for diverse audiences
* Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects in fast-paced environments
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint)
* Experience with social media management across multiple channels and audiences
* Experience with the Adobe Suite for design, photography, and videography is a bonus (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Express, Premiere/Rush)
* Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
* Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset
