*POSITION: *Intermediate Real Estate Law Clerk

*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - WHAT YOU WILL DO:*
· *Document Preparation: *Manage residential real estate transactions which includes but is not limited to the preparation of correspondences, transactional documents, client and lender reports and etc.
· *File Management: *Handle 30-40 files per month involving real estate transactions, including sales, purchases, and refinances.
· *Client Communication*: Communicate effectively with clients, lenders and other professionals in English, Portuguese, and French.
· *Mortgage Investment Corporations (MICs)*: Service MICs and ensure compliance with MICs? reporting obligations, including preparing necessary documents and reports.
· *Due Diligence*: Conduct thorough title searches and review municipal searches, surveys, and compliance with legal requirements.
· *Coordination*: Liaise with real estate agents, brokers, financial institutions, municipalities, land registry offices and other third parties to ensure smooth transactions.
· *Reporting*: Maintain accurate records and ensure timely reporting to clients and regulatory bodies.
· *Problem Resolution*: Identify and resolve any issues related to title, mortgages, or other aspects of real estate transactions.
· *Mentor: *Support and potentially train Junior Law Clerks
*QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE - WHO YOU ARE:*
· *Education: *Graduated from a Canadian Law Clerk Diploma program
· *Experience: *Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Real Estate Law Clerk.
· *Language/Communication Skills*: Fluent in English and ability to communicate with clients French. Ability to communicate with clients in Portuguese is an asset as a third of our clients speak Portuguese.
· *File Management:* Proven ability to handle 35-40 files per month across sales, purchase, and refinance transactions.
· *MICs Expertise:* Knowledge and experience working with Mortgage Investment Corporations (MICs), including understanding their reporting requirements.
· *Technical Skills:* Proficient in legal software related to real estate transactions (Unity/Conveyancer, Closer and Teraview).
· *Attention to Detail:* Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
· *Team Player: *Ability to work collaboratively with lawyers, clerks, and other staff members.
