Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Noisy. Odours. Work setting: Industrial. Manufacture. Tasks: Interpret welding process specifications. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Fit, braze and torch-straighten metal. Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC). Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products. Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Welder Trade Red Seal Certificate. Type of materials: Steel, iron and heavy metals. Welding techniques: Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG). Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). ARC spot. Equipment and machinery experience: Gas welding machine. Spot welding machine. Area of specialization: Custom fabrication. Factory assembly. Cast iron and other metals. Ornamental work. Process piping. Security and safety: Bondable. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Safety harness.
