We are currently seeking an organized and detail-oriented Finance Manager to join our team. The Finance Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and managing the activities involved in the efficient operations of the Conayt Friendship Society?s Financial systems and services. S/he provides leadership and supervision to the finance office employees and/or contractors; Maintains books and records of accounts; Responsible for procedures used for recording financial transactions and finance files; Coordinates the annual audit of accounts.
Reporting to the Executive Director the Finance Manager ensures the financial and administrative practices remain efficient, effective and accountable to the Society?s Membership and Board of Directors, funding partners and stakeholders.
*General Responsibilities: *
* Interpret and conform to federal, provincial, local laws; Society?s Constitution & Bylaws.
* Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, streamline processes, work cooperatively and jointly providing quality seamless services.
* Liaison with external agencies, organizations, members and stakeholders.
* Provide leadership, supervision and direction to establish strategies, goals, objectives and policies.
* Assist program managers with the creation and management of departmental budgets.
* Advise the Executive Director relative to the needs & opportunities for services.
* Recommend and implement changes and improvements within delegated authority.
* Write or direct the preparation of activity and accounting reports as required.
* Attend and participate in training courses, performance reviews, and staff development programs when made available, recommended and/or required.
* Maintain professional standards of conduct, performance and personal appearance.
* Reflect the mission, values and goals of the Society at all times.
*Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:*
* Aboriginal cultures, Friendship Centers and urban issues.
* Current accounting practices and systems.
* Relevant legislation and government policies.
* Computer applications skills including financial and accounting software.
* Research, organizational, teamwork and leadership skills.
* Communications, problem-solving, negotiating, decision making, and judgement skills.
* Self-motivated, self-reliant and flexible to working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
* Work well with others; treat people with dignity & respect; promote confidence.
* Deal pleasantly and effectively with a wide range of people of different ages and cultures, in potentially volatile and emotionally charged situations.
* Maintain trust and confidentiality.
* Deal effectively with emergency situations.
* Identify priorities when there are conflicting demands.
* Maintain clear and accurate records.
*Other Qualifications & Education Required: *
* 2 years post-secondary diploma in related field (accounting, bookkeeping, office management) OR equivalent education and experience OR completion of 1-3 years (First Level) Junior level of the CGA, OR the Pre-professional senior level of the CMA program, AND
* 3 years recent job-related experience including 2 years finance department
