*Job Overview*
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for translating project and product requirements into safe, easy to use and efficient designs and modules. The Electrical Design Engineer develops, builds and tests control systems and modules, interfaces with other departments, and takes part in some project management.
*Duties and Responsibilities*
· Provide technical support to our internal personnel on CNC, control, and electrical issues. Train staff to do so as well and provide superior customer service.
· Design of safe and robust motion control systems which enhance and differentiate our products in the marketplace.
· Understand all safety and CE/CSA/UL related regulations and applicable standards. Mitigate risk to the company by ensuring all such systems have redundancy as appropriate and analyze them for possible failure modes.
· Design and execute system testing procedures to ensure that the control systems are operating as designed.
· Specify accurate bills of materials and schematics for all controllers and electrical systems for both new equipment and retrofits.
· Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to determine optimal solutions.
· Commission, test and troubleshoot initial and existing systems.
*Education and Experience Requirements*
· University degree in Electrical Engineering with 3-7 years experience in motion systems
· Experience specifying and designing systems for precision motion control
· Experience with Solidworks/AutoCAD Electrical
· PLC programming and/or experience in a C based language
· Servo motor/drive and VFD setup and tuning
· Fieldbus experience (Modbus, CANopen ,EtherCAT, etc.)
· PCB design and build
· Microcontroller and FPGA programming is a plus
*Additional Requirements*
· Valid driver?s license and passport are a must.
· Able and willing to work additional hours as needed.
· Must be available to travel as required (up to 15% of working time may involve travel)
