Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Outdoors. Work setting: Drilling and well service contractor. Various locations. Tasks: Align and manipulate sections of pipe or drill stem from a platform on the rig derrick. Drive well services truck to well site. Attach pumps and hoses to wellhead. Operate and maintain drilling mud systems and pumps. Write daily basic progress reports. Operate hydraulic pumping systems. Operate and maintain drilling rig diesel motors, transmissions and other mechanical equipment. Read gauges to interpret conditions and adjust pumping procedure. Assist in setting up, taking down and transporting drilling and service rigs. Mix chemicals and cements. Use specialized equipment to determine the location of buried pipelines and other utilities in preparation for seismic exploration and drilling activities. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Standard First Aid Certificate. Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate. Oilfield Haulers. Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Large workload. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate. Efficient interpersonal skills.
