The Financial Officer is responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, managing multiple accounts payable and receivables, and assisting with budget and year end preparation and financial reporting. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards and procedures, supports month-end closing activities, and provides analytical support by preparing financial statements and reports as needed.
The Financial Officer must have a strong background in multi business accounts, possess exceptional analytical, technical and mathematical skills and is customer sales driven as well as able to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
*Responsibilities*
* Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports to provide financial status insights
* Help develop budgets to ensure resources are allocated effectively
* Ensure that financial records are accurate by reconciling bank statements and managing discrepancies
* Conduct financial analysis to support decision making, identify trends, and assess financial performance.
* Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
* Customer service-oriented approach with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
* Strong problem and decision-making skills and abilities to resolve inquiries/complaints and address project challenges.
* Collaborate and be an adaptable team player with a positive attitude and wiliness to assist colleagues as needed.
* Highly proficient in using POS systems, accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly TEAMS and Excel.
* High level of integrity, professionalism, emphasis on accuracy and ability to maintain confidentially
* Results-driven mindset and wiliness to take initiative.
* Ability to work flexible scheduling ( part-time 32 hours a week)
* The job will involve lifting, moving heavy boxes, climbing stairs and ladders so physical stamina and the ability to handle physical work will be required.
*Qualifications*
* A degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field.
* 7+ years of proven experience in finance performance, preferably in a retail or construction industry setting
* Proficient in using Microsoft Application, spreadsheets, and other relevant tools. Familiarity with Financial statement reading.
* Strong analytical skills to accurately analyze financial data and prepare reports.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial record-keeping
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers effectively.
* Expert with financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements
* French speaking an asset
