Our associate members provide a wide range of services that support the upstream industry.
CAPP?s members produce nearly three quarters of Canada?s annual oil and natural gas production and provide approximately 450,000 direct and indirect jobs in nearly all regions of Canada. According to the most recently published data, the industry contributes over $70 billion to Canada?s GDP, as well as $45 billion in taxes and royalties to governments across the country. CAPP is a solution-oriented partner and works with all levels of government to ensure a thriving Canadian oil and natural gas industry.

*Position Summary*
This role is a key member of the Sustainability, External Relations & Indigenous Affairs Team, reporting to the Director, Sustainability and will be responsible for supporting policy, research, and advocacy outcomes related to air policy, methane emissions abatement, chemicals management, and other priority policy objectives.
* Work with technical leads in relevant Ministries and Regulators at the local, provincial, and national levels to build relationships, and collaborate on emissions policy development initiatives.
* Build relationships with other associations and stakeholders across Canada.
* Promote and represent CAPP?s position on priority files, including air policy, in public forums.
* Engage and facilitate member feedback to develop evidence-based advocacy.
* Lead policy projects related to air policies through engagement with CAPP members, government and other stakeholders.
* Represent CAPP at technical multi-stakeholder meetings that may include representatives from government, industry, and environmental non-governmental organizations.
* Identify emerging issues, their impact and priority, and develop and coordinate their assessment with CAPP members.
* Research, analyze and develop policy positions, strategies, plans and programs.
* Investigate, research and compile background materials on issues and briefings.
* Promote and represent CAPP?s position on issues related to air policies and be CAPP?s representative on select research and policy tables.
* Engage and support Executives with material and analytics to support positions.
* Other duties as required.
*Job Requirements*
* A minimum of 7 years of work experience in policy, regulatory, innovation and environmental areas.
* A minimum of 5 years of work experience in the oil and natural gas industry.
* Post-secondary education required, preferably a diploma or degree in engineering, science, law, public policy, or related field.
* Strong knowledge of the oil and natural gas industry and its operations provincially and across Canada.
* Experience in project management, facilitation and negotiation with external stakeholders.
* Must be eligible to work in Canada legally.

* An independent self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision and has excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
* Ability to develop negotiation strategies that account for other stakeholders? interests and deliver short-term and long-term objectives. .
* Skilled at prioritization of activities and capable of focusing on the most urgent and important issues and leading initiatives to achieve them.
* Strong analytical and technical skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to technical and senior strategic audiences.
